Our Process

What It's Like to Work with Us

We begin by understanding what you want your home to do—how it should function, feel, and support your everyday life. That conversation drives the entire project, from initial scope to final walkthrough.

We invest heavily in early planning so the construction itself runs smoothly. Fewer surprises.  A timeline you can track. A budget you can rely on. You’ll always know where the project stands—what phase we’re in, what decisions are coming up, and what’s happening on site.

We use materials that are safe to live with, sourced with care, and designed to break down cleanly when their time is up. We prioritize sourcing  wood from responsibly managed forests, zero-toxicity finishes, and durable choices —materials that protect your home now without compromising what surrounds it.

Throughout the build, we stay in close contact and meet with you regularly. Questions don’t sit unanswered. Decisions don’t get lost. You’ll feel supported every step of the way.

Plan

We begin with a site visit to understand your goals, assess existing conditions, and provide a rough pricing exercise. If there’s alignment, we enter a pre-construction agreement—refining the scope of your home remodel, identifying constraints, and mapping a path toward a clear, buildable plan.

Refine

This is where details take shape. We coordinate material selections with a focus on healthy, sustainable options, work with design and engineering teams, build out the project schedule, and refine the budget. By the end, you’ll have a construction contract rooted in real decisions—not placeholders.

Build

We run the job ourselves—self-performing key parts of the work and coordinating everything else with care. Whether it’s a kitchen renovation, whole house remodel, or performance upgrade, you’ll stay in the loop through regular meetings and milestone check-ins. At handoff, you’ll get a closeout packet with all the details on your home—and the assurance that if something comes up, we’ll be the ones to pick up the phone.

What Makes it Work

Projects stay on track when expectations are clear, planning reflects real conditions, and follow-through is baked into every phase. That’s how we run jobs—and how we deliver work that meets the plan, honors the budget, and holds up over time.

  • Fewer surprises means fewer change orders—and a healthier budget at the final walkthrough

  • Materials are ordered early, so they’re on site when we need them—avoiding delays and giving you a reliable end-of-project date

  • Consistent communication keeps everything aligned—nothing falls through the cracks, and you know we’re still showing up for your project

How We Build Better

Sustainability is the foundation for how we build: good for your home, better for your health, and easier on the planet.

Sourcing

We frame with sustainably harvested lumber by default and avoid materials that pollute in production, installation, or disposal. That includes insulation—we use natural options like wool, cellulose, hemp, or cork. We avoid vinyl and foam, or anything that lingers in your home—or the environment—as a long-term hazard.

Air Quality

Every finish we use—paints, stains, sealants—is no-VOC as a baseline. We never ask you to trade indoor air quality for good design.

Systems

Rainscreen cladding, airtight construction, and exterior insulation are part of our toolkit—but only when they fit the home. And if we tighten the envelope, we match it with balanced ventilation that improves comfort and health.

Judgement

We follow building science, not trends. That means no upgrades that create new problems, and no efficiency measures that ignore structure, moisture, or long-term performance.
