Our Story
At Wood and Wool Construction LLC, our story is one of collaboration, craftsmanship, and lifelong friendship. Founders Chris and Ryan have been best friends since 7th grade, and for the past 18 years, they’ve tackled everything from building projects to cross-country road trips together. Their professional journey began on custom tiny homes and expanded to include custom homes and remodels in Portland, gaining hands-on experience in both carpentry and project management.

After pursuing their own paths — Chris as a perennial craftsman and Ryan as a project manager — they founded Wood and Wool Construction to combine their strengths. Today, they bring their dedication to quality, sustainability, and thoughtful planning to every project. From whole-home remodels to additions and energy-efficient upgrades, they’re committed to building spaces that reflect their clients’ visions — homes that are beautiful, functional, and built to last. And they have a damn good time doing it.
Ryan Knightly
Co-Owner and Project Manager

Ryan’s career in construction started with a hammer in hand, working alongside Chris to build custom, luxury tiny homes. From there, he moved into custom home building in Portland with a green building firm, where he grew into a supervisory role and later transitioned into project management. He eventually took on a new challenge as a project manager at a deconstruction firm, managing numerous fast-paced projects for general contractors and homeowners alike. With a reputation for staying calm under pressure and keeping projects on track, Ryan thrives in dynamic environments that demand both organization and creative problem-solving.

His approach is rooted in clear communication and a commitment to executing at a high level. Ryan believes the best projects start with thoughtful planning and a deep understanding of a homeowner’s vision. As a Certified Passive House Builder (CPHB) through Phius, he brings expertise in sustainable building practices, ensuring homes are not only beautiful but also energy-efficient and resilient.

But for Ryan, construction is about more than the build itself. He believes in infusing every project with positive energy and building homes that have soul. From whole-home remodels to carefully crafted additions, he takes pride in creating spaces that meet his clients’ needs, stand the test of time, and bring joy for years to come.
Chris Pabon
Co-Owner and Project Supervisor

With a decade of hands-on experience as a carpenter, Chris has built a reputation for bringing designs to life with precision and care. His career has spanned everything from luxury, custom tiny homes to large-scale remodels. A natural problem solver, Chris doesn’t shy away from a challenge. If he doesn’t know how to do something, he learns — and masters it. That curiosity and determination have made him a go-to leader on projects of all sizes.

Chris is a conscious builder who values sustainable material sourcing and prioritizes durability. He’s especially thoughtful about the materials he works with, steering away from foam and other wasteful products whenever possible. Beyond the job site, his passion for craftsmanship extends into his personal life — from building and living in a self-converted van to experimenting with plumbing, electrical, and mechanical projects just to understand how things work.

But what makes Chris stand out isn’t just his technical skill — it’s the energy he brings to every project. He believes construction should be as enjoyable as it is rewarding, infusing his work with positivity and a genuine love for the craft. Whether he’s leading a crew, solving an on-site challenge, or fine-tuning a custom detail, Chris builds with care, intention, and a sense of pride. At Wood and Wool Construction LLC, he’s not just a project supervisor — he’s a hands-on leader committed to creating spaces that are built to last and filled with life.
